Welcome back to Best Life of Your Life!

Today, we're going to talk a few minutes about how to ‘pivot' from anger to progress!

At some point, we all need this discussion don't we? I know I've had several times recently that I had to use ALL FOUR of the steps that I'm going to share with you today to help me deal with life and yes, anger! 🙂

Now, as we goes through each of these steps, we need to remember that, as with anything in life, we only get good at what we practice. So these steps aren't conceptual, and it's not my intention to share them so you'll just think they're just nice things to think about — these are things that we actually need to commit to DOING so that they will work for us on a consistent basis. Even if you just chunk them down and focus on using them one at a time over the course of the next 4 week, I sincerely believe they they'll be helpful.

Research (Psychology Press) tells us that anger is an approach related emotion. In other words, the method we use to approach or ‘deal' with anger will determine our experience with it. This begs the question, “What is our routine when we get angry?”

Most of us usually experience anger in essentially 3 steps: the trigger, the routine, and the reward. The trigger is the thing that gets you angry, the routine is what you do to respond, and the reward is the level of satisfaction that you feel afterwards.

We're all going feel the emotion of anger sometimes. So the goal of today's episode is not to put a stop to anger. Instead, I'm going to give you the opportunity to learn to insert a more useful routine to deal with it.

I'm going to offer four steps to help you deal with anger in a way that is very useful. By the end of today's episode, I think you'll probably agree.
